This workshop with Lisa Clark explores the alignment and movement principles that arise from the skeletal system. As we embody the bones of the upper limbs we find clarity of form and dynamic relationships that support easeful integrated movement and sequencing through the limbs and core. These dynamic relationships allow us to organize and balance the core of our body with the periphery, and offer new postural efficacy vital to eliminating strain and tension in our asana practice.
This workshop will grow your kinesthetic awareness of the relationships between the shoulder girdle, arm, and hands in both weight bearing and non weight bearing poses. It will deepen your somatic understanding of the development of the upper limbs, as we explore sequencing and asana choices that build from the ground upwards while utilizing the actions of yield, push, reach, and pull as the essential foundation of our practice.

This workshop includes:
• Lecture
• Embodied anatomy and inquiry
• Application to yoga asana and sequencing
• Pre-recorded live questions and answer

The workshop will draw from the following topics:
• Weight bearing and non weight bearing actions of shoulder girdle in movement and asana
• Developmental organization of the hand to scapula
• Periphery to core: skeletal relationships and alignment fingers to shoulder girdle
• Application to asana and sequencing
• Compensatory patterns of the upper body

Please be ready for the workshop with the following:
• Note paper and pen
• Yoga mat, 2-3 blankets, 1 bolster, block and yoga belt, folding chair or dining room chair.
