THE SCHOOL FOR BODY-MIND CENTERING® YOGA IMMERSION SERIES
The Dynamics Of Breathing: Internal Respiration
This series explores the early foundations of breath - Internal Respiration. From our earliest beginnings in utero, the process of internal respiration generates multiple pathways of connectivity throughout our bodies, that guide our early development of self. These set the baseline for later external respiration when we exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide directly with the outer world.
Body-mind Centering® brings a new expanded awareness to the practice of breathing, moving beyond a technical approach to an embodied awareness of respiration in its many forms.
PREBREATHING AND INTERNAL RESPIRATION:
VIBRATION, CELLULAR BREATHING, SPONGING, PULSATION, SIMULTANEOUS CONDENSING & EXPANDING YIELD, CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM AUTONOMIC RHYTHM, NAVEL RADIATION, AND EMBRYONIC BREATHING
As we explore internal respiration we will find some of the deepest places where breath resides, in our cells and mitochondria. Some of our earliest movements are based on the rhythms of pulsation, condensing, and expanding, that circulate fluids and life force throughout the cells and tissues of the body. Eventually these processes will organize sequential pathways from center to periphery, head to tail, and whole body organization.
PRANAYAMA, ASANA & MEDITATION
Using our awareness of internal respiration we will explore aspects of pranyama, asana, and meditation from an embodied approach. Each weekend will introduce a new aspect of breathing, explorations will draw from embodied anatomy, embryology, neurocellular development, and principles of Body-Mind Centering® and yoga.
As we become more conscious of our breath, we enjoy a more easeful, balanced, and nuanced exchange between ourselves and the world around us.
